TEACHING LANGUAGES TO LEARNERS
WHO EXPERIENCE DIFFICULTIES IN LEARNING

Workshop 1 Teaching languages to dyslexic learners
Suggests one way of thinking about how we respond to the individual needs of learners. It uses a collaborative approach, combining the skills and experiences of both modern language teachers and those who specialise in providing support for learners who find language learning problematical for one reason or another.

Workshop 2 Invites MFL and Learning Specialists to construct your own planning matrix which will help you to plan to meet the needs of the individual learners or groups of learners in your own class.

Workshop 3 asks 'Why teach languages to learners with special educational needs?'; offers some thoughts on the aims, expectations and benefits of 'foreign language learning for all'; and asks for contributions from your own experience.

Workshop 4 Investigates writing, one of the main barriers to learning in the foreign language class, and considers whether we can make writing less burdensome for some learners

Workshop 5 looks at how teachers can begin to cope with the learning needs of a classful of pupils

Workshop 6 considers the importance of consolidating new learning and suggests ways of auditing and developing inclusive practice.
